This book not only introduces the reader to the history behind many of Japan's most fantastical places, it also provides detailed information on how to get there and actually visit these sites. 

"A guidebook for the horror enthusiast" as Yoshida puts it.

Horror, however, is a vague term, and so Yoshida divides his sites as having to do something with the following genres: 

spirits, urban legends, taboos, temples and shrines, prayers, history, holy places, famous places, ruins, rare spots, and nature.
